English With Movies

Learning English with movies is a fun and effective way to pick up natural language vocabulary, and different accents. We can choose movies under various themes according to our preference. If I talk about my preferences…I prefer to watch science fiction, adventure, animation and musical movies. There are so many types of movies like action, horror, fantasy, thriller, comedy, romance, mystery, documentary and also historical movies. Therefore we can choose anyone according to our preferences.

Watching with English subtitles helps to connect the listening with the reading and makes new words easier to track. We can start with familiar contents, focusing on understanding the words and how they are spoken, and gradually move to more complex material.Regularly review new vocabulary and practice the language to reinforce what we have learned.Remember, the subtitles must not the native language ones.Sometimes, there might have our favorable dialogues in the movies we watched.I have several movie dialogues that remain in my heart.”Fear me if you dare!” is one of heartiest dialogues in the movie Puss In Boots:The Last Wish (2022).I can remember, I always whispered that dialogue right after watching that movie.I felt like I was living in that character. No words to describe that feeling.

Watching short scenes repeatedly is very important, to understand how native speakers use common phrases. It is very important to our brain used to the sounds, words, and rhythm. We can keep a notebook to write down new words and phrases.Note how they are used in the context of the scene to improve our accent and speaking fluency is very important. Not only that, we can talk about the movie scenes with our peers in English and also act out the scenes with them.It is funny. Finally, setting goals is crucial to manage the learning by movies. That’s mean we should not go over any of these at once.We need to get all these things done just right.

Movie Time…

I have created this article to show how important movies are for improving the English language.Mostly, I described how fun it is. I was able to explain it more clearly through the experiences I gained both during my time as a student and in my career as a teacher.
